Happy 6th Birthday, Blayne!!!

It was another successful birthday for Miss Blayne!! I have to admit that I was a bit of a slacker mom this year. Blayne wanted to have her birthday party at Chuck E Cheese and I was really dragging my feet. I am not a fan of CEC on a regular day, but I refuse to step foot in that place on a weekend!! Of course, there was also the debate of who to invite and who not to invite. I finally came up with a solution...I would bring treats and goodie bags to celebrate her birthday with her class and we would not invite any of those friends to her party, then we would have a fairly small party at CEC on a Friday afternoon (did I mention that I already had word from 2 other moms that we were going to be invited to a bday party on both sat and sun of the weekend of her birthday which left us pretty limited??). This agreement made all parties happy; however, it meant that I had work to do!! She wanted to bring cupcakes to her class, but I told her that it was made clear by the teachers that they could only bring cookies due to the mess. I convinced her that cookies shaped like cupcakes would be the next best thing!! I think they turned out pretty cute and her friends liked them!!

My mom and I got to eat lunch with Blayne at school and stay for her little party right after. Her teacher passed out the bags in the afternoon.

I always plan to do something fun for Blayne after school on her actual birthday and this year was no different. I had to get creative this year since I usually default to CEC. I decided to take her to Paint N Party and let her paint a ceramic before meeting family for dinner. She LOVED it!! I think we might make this a new tradition!! In fact, when I asked her before bed what her favorite thing that she did on her birthday was...she pointed to her new piece of art in her room:) Here are a few pictures of her beautiful art!!

Once she had finished her masterpiece, we were off to have her birthday dinner at the restaurant of her choice. Who am I kidding...if she had HER choice we would have been at McDonalds!! I told her she had to pick a REAL restaurant and she then chose Chili's...I'll take that over McDonalds any day!! We had a wonderful dinner with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents....well, most of them!! A before tax day birthday keeps the CPA grandpa away:( He is always sure to catch up with us on the weekend though!

After a long day of birthday celebrating, we headed home and to bed because I still had LOTS of work to do to get ready for the birthday party!! Birthday party post....coming soon!!
