10 years?? My time flies...

So today marks a big day in our lives...today is Chris and I's 10th anniversary!! Who would have thought that he would put up with me for 10 years?? vice versa?? I have blogged about what a bittersweet day this is for me and this year is no different. I am always in awe over the short period of time that the greatest men in my life overlapped. Having both my dad and my husband beside me in those short 8-9 hours were a precious gift and while I wish that time would have been longer, I have always felt the presence of both of them.

While we have plans to celebrate our anniversary this weekend and we have both already received anniversary gifts, I thought it would be fun to surprise Chris with a yummy meal at home. Blayne and I had a mission this afternoon!! I told her that we were going to get all dressed up and have a fancy dinner...in the dining room!! That's right, the dining room!! Blayne was very excited about our evening and at one point told me, "Mommy, I am going to go play quietly in my playroom so that you and Daddy can have a nice dinner alone!" How sweet is she?? I said, "Absolutely not!! We are going to have a fancy dinner together as a family and you are going to eat with us!!" Blayne also decided that she would pick out my clothes and told me that I MUST wear my cheetah print heels. She also chose her dress and wore her 'heels'. We had a wonderful dinner consisting of sockeye salmon with lump crab meat, wild rice (garlic mashed potatoes for me!!), sauteed mushrooms, and creme brulee for dessert. While I was cooking dinner, Blayne was busy making decorations to hang in the dining room. You know, signs that say 'Happy Anvrsre!' and cut out hearts that said 'I love U'. She was so proud of her decorations!! Wish I had taken pictures of them:( Blayne also helped me out by setting the table, making sure that we had lit candles on the table, clearing the table when we were done, and bringing our desserts to the table. I also need to add that she made a request for Chris to bring home some 'fresh flowers' to put on the table, but apparently he did not abide by her request and did not arrive with the flowers!! I really don't know where she gets this stuff, but she was so incredibly sweet tonight. She was on her best behavior and had great table manners for our fancy dinner. Apparently we need to do this more often!!

I could not have asked for a better ending to an gorgeous day and I am so incredibly blessed to have such an amazing family!!
