VBS week

I can't believe that we are almost at the end of another week of summer!! It is going by sooo fast!! I feel like I am going to blink my eyes and Blayne will be in kindergarten...our fun summer will be over:(

I made a deal with Heather this week that if we signed both of the girls (Blayne and my niece, Lauren) up for VBS at 'Grandma's church', I would pick them up each day. I am still trying to decide if 3 hours of free time was worth the trade of 2 (or 3 or 5!!) kids for 6 hours afterwards was a good trade:) It is worth if for all of the cousinly love!! Needless to say, we have stayed pretty busy this week once again!!

In true Blayne fashion, as soon as Blayne saw the VBS shirt that was issued, she immediately stated that she was NOT wearing it!! This is not surprising as Blayne has never been one to wear the 'issued' shirt!! (I am very interested to see how 'spirit day' goes next year in school!!) Being the 'green' mom that I am (ha!), I decided that we will make use of this shirt by making it 'girly' and 'princessy' (is that a word?). So, after VBS on Monday, Blayne, Lauren and I headed to the craft store to get some supplies. The girls had a great time decorating their shirts and were so proud of themselves!!

On Tuesday, I offered to watch a few extra kids...a neighbor, Connie's, grandkids (Myles,7 and Anna, 10) that are visiting from California...they are good kids and played well with each other!! So, I picked up 5 kids from VBS and took them all to McDonalds. Then, we all came to my house to change into swimsuits and go to the pool! After 3 hours with 5 kids at the pool, I was exhausted!! All of the kids were too, but I think they all had a good time!!

We were back to Blayne, Lauren and I on Wednesday, so we went to lunch and then just came back to hang out at the house. The girls put on a fashion show for me!!

It was nice to just have a quiet day!!

Today, I had plans to pick up Blayne, Lauren and Jacob and take them to have lunch with Grandma. We picked Grandma up from work and met Connie (with all the other kids!!) at ChickfilA for lunch. I invited Myles over to hang out and entertain Jacob which has worked out wonderfully!!

This may be incredibly crazy, but I think I am going to offer to take all of the kids to the pool again tomorrow...we will end this week with a BANG!! I might as well wear them out!! Next week will the be the first of 8 Summer Fun Days at Blayne's preschool...I don't know about her, but I am sooo looking forward to it!!!

Oh and what else we have been doing this week?? We have been growing butterflies!! For preschool graduation, Grammy bought Blayne a butterfly kit and we received the caterpillars in the mail last Friday. I could have sworn when we got them that they were dead, but they sure did fatten up quickly!! There was not a whole lot of movement until the last couple of days and we now have 5 chrysalides!! They are pretty amazing to watch and so much fun!! Here are our first chrysalides:

I watched this morning as the last caterpillar made it's chrysalis. You can only see 4 in the picture because the 5th one made his at the bottom...he must have been too lazy to crawl up!! We will transfer them to the netted habitat this week and we should have 5 painted lady butterflies in the next 10 days!!
